Research that evolves opportunities for you!

Our Co-Founder, Kate, is a disabled, queer, researcher, working to tell your story and include you in the #COVIDsation about our shared human experience of living during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kate and their team designed a ground-breaking, inclusive survey that offers you the power to educate scientists and clinicians about your experience so we can all recover together. You matter. We are listening. Participate & take the survey!

MEET THE TEAM

Disabled Duo exits to nurture connection and evolve opportunities in the shadowed realities of disability and sexuality. Co-founders Kate and Aaron Wolovsky are a disabled, married couple who share love, intimacy, and sexual pleasure while also caring for each other’s disability needs. In their journey, the Duo discovered that medical and mental health professionals generally lack the knowledge, training, and experience to serve disabled people, all of whom are sexual beings by virtue of their existence. The end result is that disabled people and their providers rarely address sexual health and wellness, leaving disabled people, their partners, and their families at a loss for explaining or empathizing with their disabled loved one. The Disabled Duo Team seeks to build bridges of knowledge through the many ways they serve.

COUNSELING

Serving individuals, partners, families, and the medical and mental health providers who care for them. We invite clinicians and practitioners to participate in personal or couples consulting or to engage in case consultations. Kate welcomes all parties to explore disability and sexuality narratives and competencies.

TRAINING

Offering training for groups, hospitals, private practices, non-profits, business, and other organizations. Whether it is an hour-long talk or a weekend of experiential learning, we partner with our clients to customize each educational event to respond to their needs, goals, and people.

ADVOCACY

Engaging in research, public speaking, outreach, philanthropic advocacy, and partnering with others to advance the concept that disability and sexuality competencies must be provided for all doctors, mental health counselors, and allied health and wellness professionals.

THINGS PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US

Kate and Aaron are two of the most engaging people I’ve ever met. Their focus on getting information to the masses will not be deterred. They put humility in humor, giving their message a soft land that feels like the hug you’ve been needing all year.
— Kathy Dooley, DC, MSc Owner, Immaculate Dissection seminars, LLC Adjunct instructor, Weill Cornell Medical College
Kate and Aaron’s lived experience of disability and their unique understanding of how that feels, coupled with their willingness to listen, learn and laugh with you as fellow disabled people, make them the perfect team suited for this work. They are absolutely the kind of people who should be leading the charge when we think of disabled people who are making a difference.
— Andrew Gurza, Disability Awareness Consultant, Queer Cripple Content Creator
